How it works

Setting up your envelope is fast and easy. See instructions or scroll down for our FAQs.

1

Create your fundraising envelope page

Upload a photo or create a personalised video and use our message template to tell your church and community why you are supporting Christian Aid. Encourage them to join you and share with their friends too!

2

Share with your church and community

Preview your message, check you're happy with how it looks and you're ready to send your envelope. You can choose to send via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, QR code or a link which you can then share in your church service or newsletter.

3

Fundraise with your envelope

Together with you and your church and community, we can achieve incredible things for some of the poorest people in the world. Each envelope share gives us a greater chance of raising vital funds to help those who are most in need.

Create your envelope and start fundraising

Every envelope can change lives and help the world's most vulnerable people. What will your envelope do this year?

Frequently asked questions

I've created an envelope account in the past, why do I have to create a new one for 2023?

We have re-built the website this year to improve the overall supporter experience, not just for Christian Aid Week 2023, but for years to come. You shouldn't have to re-register from this year onwards.

How do I log in and and out of my account?

Click on the Log in, which can be found in the main menu.

Once logged in, you should now see a Log out link in the main menu. Click this to log out.

I can't remember my password, how do I reset my password?

Don't worry, it happens to all of us! Click on the forgotten password link. If we have an account for the email address supplied, a reset email will be emailed to you.

Make sure to check your junk folder if you do not see it in your inbox.

Click on the link in the email. You will then be taken to a password reset page where you can enter a new password.

How do I close/delete my envelope fundraising page?

Envelope owners are currently unable to close or delete their own fundraising page.

All pages will automatically be closed to new donations from 16 August 2023. Closed means the page will still exist but the donate button will be removed from the page so visitors to the page will no longer be able to donate.

To close or delete your fundraising page entirely, please contact us.

How do I cancel my account?

Envelope owners are currently unable to cancel their own account. Please contact us and we can do so for you.

Can I create a page on behalf of a group or church?

Yes, when creating an envelope, at section '5. Select an organisation', search for the organisation using our look-up function. You can enter a valid Organisation Reference (OR) e.g. OR123456 or enter a valid postcode. Once you've entered the OR or postcode, click search and the name of the Organisation should be displayed. You can then finish creating your envelope.

I'm unable to find my organisation using their post code or organisation reference (OR) number, what should I do?

We have a large comprehensive list of organisations available, but should you not manage to find your intended organisation, please contact us.

What happens if I raise more than my set target?

Firstly, congratulations! Nothing will happen as such, your page will continue to raise funds. You may choose to increase your target. You can do this by logging in and editing the target field of your envelope to have a higher donation amount.

What email notifications will I receive?

The essential transactional emails you will receive will be a 'Welcome notification' email for creating an envelope, a '50% target reached notification' and also a '100% target reached notification' email. There is also a 'password reset' email should you forget your password and request for it to be reset.

If you opted in to receive marketing emails from Christian Aid, you may also get further marketing emails. You can click the 'Unsubscribe' link in the bottom of these emails to opt out.

Can I create more than one envelope page?

Yes, most people only have one envelope fundraising page, but you can create as many as you like for the organisations/churches that you may be representing.

You can view all the envelopes created on the 'My account' page, found in the main menu.

Can I personalise my envelope page?

Yes, you can personalise the title, story and banner. We have created three ready-to-use banners for you (one in Welsh language), however, you can alternatively upload your own image to use as the banner at the top of your envelope page.

When I create an envelope can I change any of the fields afterwards?

Yes, you can change all the fields you originally entered when creating an envelope. To change these fields, make sure you are logged into the envelope website. Then click on 'My account' in the main menu. Then click on 'Edit' on the envelope you wish to edit. You can then amend any of the fields. Make sure to then click 'Save' for the changes to take effect.

How do I access the additional settings for my envelope?

You need to create an envelope first. Then you edit to access the additional settings. To do so, make sure you are logged into the envelope website. Then click on 'My account' in the main menu. Then click on 'Edit' on the envelope you wish to edit. You should then see additional settings:

  • you can change the URL of your envelope page
  • you can turn comments off so none are shown on your page
  • you can hide your name from displaying in the banner
  • you can hide your page from being returned in our envelope search results

Users on our Ireland site also have the ability switch the currency between GBP and EUR.

How do I change the URL of my page?

When you create an envelope, the title of your envelope will be used as the web address URL.

If your title is not unique, then rather than seeing /my-envelope you may see /my-envelope-0 or /my-envelope-1 etc. You do have the ability to change this after creating your envelope.

Log in to your account and navigate to your account.

Then click on edit the envelope. In option 6, you will see envelope address field. Here is where you can change the URL of your envelope page.

Click save and your envelope page should display the new URL in the browser address bar.

I don't want a specific comment to display on my page, how can I remove it?

You have the ability to control whether you want all comments to be publicly visible or hidden on your envelope fundraising page. They will be displayed by default but after you have created your envelope, you can then go back and edit your envelope and select to hide them if you would prefer.

However if you are simply wanting one or two removed from your page, then please contact us.

How can I share my envelope page?

You can share your envelope fundraising page online using the ready to go sharing buttons on your page. You can share on:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • LinkedIn

There is also a 'Copy link' button which will save the URL of your page to your clipboard. This is the same as going to the address bar in your browser and selecting the full URL and then selecting 'Copy'.

You can then paste the link into an email or any other social media platform (e.g. WhatsApp) you wish to use.

There is also a QR (Quick response) code available to you. More details can be found below.

Will I be notified if someone donates to my page?

No, not for every donation. You will receive two email notifications, one when your total reaches 50% of your target and another email notification when the total reaches 100%.

However, there are no notifications for each and every donation made to an envelope fundraising page. You would have to go back to your envelope fundraising page and check on the totaliser.

Will I be able to see all the names of the donors to my envelope?

No, you will only see the names of the donors who also decide to leave a comment when donating and choose to not hide their name.

If they donate without leaving a comment, or choose to remain anonymous when leaving a comment, then you will not see the name of the donor.

I see the money goes towards this year's Christian Aid Week Appeal, can I choose a different fund/appeal?

At the moment, all funds will go to Christian Aid Week. If you would like to donate to another appeal, you can browse our other active appeals here.

How do I use the QR code?

As well as finding the usual online sharing options (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, copy link) on your envelope page, you can also find a unique QR (Quick Response) code.

Scanning this QR code with the camera on a mobile device will open up your envelope fundraising page on the device.

You may consider saving this image to your computer and inserting into a document for printing. You can then put up the printed document on a noticeboard, such as in your church or local meeting place.

Can I change the currency on my page?

Users visiting the envelope.christianaid.org.uk site only have the option of setting GBP.

For users in Ireland visiting the envelope.christianaid.ie site, you have the option to set the currency as either GBP or EUR when creating the envelope. Also, once created, you can go back and edit your envelope and change the currency.

How are regular donations reflected in the fundraising progress bar/totaliser?

The totaliser bar, charting fundraising progress towards the target amount is displayed on each envelope page. It measures all the donations made towards that page.

Every one-off donation will be attributed and added to the progress bar by each donation amount.

However, for regular donations (e.g. a £5 monthly gift), the progress bar will just increase only once (£5). It will not update and reflect each subsequent monthly donation.
