My story

In Guatemala half the population rely on agriculture for their livlihood. But the climate crisis is causing unpredictable seasons with savage storms and deadly droughts. These  destroy the crops resulting in poverty and hunger for Indigenous communities. But with help the farmers are fighting back by learning to adapt their farming methods.

Christian Aid’s partner Congcoop provides specialist training and Aurelia has learnt to grow climate-resilient crops, make organic fertiliser and set up a water recycling system to conserve rainwater. She is now sharing this knowledge with others to enable her community to fight hunger and build a sustainable future.

This Christian Aid Week, please give to support farmers in the fight against hunger and the climate crisis.

How your money helps

This Christian Aid Week, you can support communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis.

In places like Guatemala, extreme weather is destroying crops, deepening hunger and threatening livelihoods. But with the right tools and training, farmers can build sustainable futures.

Every pound you raise could help:

  • Provide climate-resilient seeds to help families grow food.
  • Fund water conservation techniques to protect crops.
  • Support vital training so farmers can build a sustainable future.
