We are taking on 70K in May to help communities fight the climate crisis. This means I’ll be covering over 70 miles between us on our Walk from Slemish mountian to Ballyboley forest. We do this in solidarity with millions of people who have to walk long distances for clean water or to sell their produce.
In Guatemala, farmers like Aurelia are battling extreme weather, but with Christian Aid’s support, they’re learning skills to protect their farms and provide for their families.
Your support can help fund this vital training. Just £20/€25 could buy two pounds of climate-resilient seeds, diversifying a family’s crop and increasing their resilience against the effects of the climate crisis.

The Larne team had a great day on Saturday. There were 9 of us at the Start as we gathered in Slemish Mountain car park . Rev Roger McKee one of the walkers lead us in prayer as we started of. Wee 5 year old Jacob Smyth was very excited about climbing the mountain. Jacob has Down's Syndrome and hasn't many words yet, but he made it clear he was busting to get started.
Two members of the team didn't feel able to climb Slemish, so they took the foot path to the south of the mountain where the rest of us met them. Jacob with the help of his Dad and cousin Ben, another walker, got to the top in about 20 minutes. He was full of smiles and got high fives from the rest of the team. He and his Dad then headed back to car park. After a short prayer led by Allan McCullough, at St Patrick's Cross we headed south and met the rest of the group. The next 3 miles were across country, fortunately the good weather has firmed up the ground and we made Shillanavogy woods with only a couple of wet feet between us. We were well prepared though with each of having spare socks. The rest of the walk was great and we made a steady pace, seeing Grouse, Hare's as big as small dogs, Hen harriers and plenty of Sky larks on the way. We were greeted by friends and supporter at the end of the walk, were Revs Colin mcClure and Jools Hamilton led a short service. 13.5 miles done and a hopefully plenty of funds raised for the work in Guatemala !
Allan McCullough and I were out on the Hills again. This time walking the rout from Shillanavogy wood stiles on the Antrim Way. Most of the route is in good condition and very walkable. Although we did find 200 meters of Soggy ground that seems to unavoidable. I got through dry. Allan didn't. It was a grand evening and we got some great photos of the sun set over Slemish. We also stopped for a time of prayer at the pure beauty of God's creation. We are all go for Saturday anyway. Thank you for all your tremendous support of our walk and this great charity.

Hi All,
we all met up at Craigyhill methodists to get our Christian Aid tee shirts on Wednesday evening. There are now 9 of us walking. There names are Alison Wolfe, Nicola Wolfe, Jacob Smyth, Ethan Symth, Steve Smyth, Allan McCullough, Joanne McCully, Ben Loade and Myself.
Jacob my 5 year old Grandson will only join us on the climb up Slemish mountain, and he is really looking forward to it. He loves the thought of Climbing mountains. He climbed Scawt with his Dad Adam and myself last year. Allan McCullough and myself are doing a prep walk on Thurdays evening to make sure we avoid the marsh land between Slemish mountain and Shillanavogy Woods at Douglas Top.
Congratulations! This activity has received its first donation!
